About me
Hello! I’m Elaine Hames, a Brazilian psychotherapist based in London, with over 12 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and take an integrative approach, combining different therapeutic techniques to create a personalised and effective treatment plan for each client.
I believe that a successful therapeutic process is built on genuine connection and trust between therapist and client. That is why my priority is to provide a warm, respectful, and ethical environment, ensuring a safe space where my clients can express their feelings, overcome emotional challenges, and develop strategies to cope with difficulties.
I offer in-person sessions in Fulham and online, supporting individuals facing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and life transitions. My goal is to provide therapy that makes sense for each individual, respecting their pace and specific needs.
As an integrative therapist, I tailor each treatment plan to suit the unique needs of every client. For children, the process begins with an initial session with parents to understand the child's background and challenges. This is followed by a few sessions with the child to build a therapeutic relationship and assess their emotional and behavioural needs.
Based on these initial sessions, I develop a personalised treatment plan, which is adjusted as the child progresses in therapy, incorporating feedback from parents. The aim is to provide effective and supportive therapy that aligns with the child's reality and family dynamics.
Working with children and adolescents holds a special place in my practice. Helping them understand and manage their emotions in a safe and nurturing environment can be a truly transformative experience, both for them and their families. I use creative and expressive techniques during sessions to make therapy engaging and comfortable.
I also recognise that adulthood comes with its own challenges, including anxiety, grief, identity struggles, and past traumas. My goal is to help you reconnect with yourself and find new ways to create a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Minha Abordagem
I am a psychologist with training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, and EMDR, using an integrative and personalised approach for each client. I believe there is no single path to emotional well-being, which is why I combine different therapeutic techniques to provide effective and tailored treatment.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that helps restructure dysfunctional thoughts, enabling clients to identify patterns that influence their emotions and behaviours. Gestalt Therapy focuses on self-awareness and present-moment consciousness, allowing clients to better understand their emotions and make decisions aligned with their needs. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a highly effective technique for treating trauma and emotional distress, helping to process difficult memories and reduce their emotional impact.
In child therapy, I use creative and expressive tools such as games, stories, and activities that make therapy more engaging and accessible for children. The therapeutic process begins with an initial session with parents, followed by individual sessions with the child to build a therapeutic relationship and assess their emotional and behavioural needs. Based on this, I develop a tailored treatment plan, which is adjusted as therapy progresses, incorporating feedback from both the child and their family.
For adolescents and adults, my approach aims to create a safe space for self-discovery, emotional regulation, and overcoming challenges. I support my clients in developing strategies to cope with anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and other emotional concerns, always respecting their pace and unique circumstances.
